TATTOO AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS
- Plastic Wrap Bandage Instructions:
- Remove bandage 4 - 6 hours after application.
- Wash hands before removing bandage.
- Remove the bandage in the shower.
- With the flat of your palms, gently massage the tattoo with lukewarm water and unscented antibacterial soap.
- Wash until it no longer feels slimy.
- Allow the tattoo to air-dry or pat with fresh clean paper towel.
If you notice you tattoo continues to weep (leak fluid/ink) over the first few days, continue to wash off the fluids daily until the weeping ends.
- Second Skin Bandage Instructions:
- Duration dependant on skin type, if no sign of irritation occurs you may leave the bandage on for up to 4 days, I would advise against leaving it on past 4 days.
- If the bandage has been compromised in any way, immediately remove the bandage.
- Wash hands before removing bandage.
- Upon removing the bandage, do so in the shower.
- With the flat of your palms, gently massage the tattoo with lukewarm water and unscented antibacterial soap.
- Wash until it no longer feels slick or slimy.
- Allow the tattoo to air-dry or pat with fresh clean paper towel.
- Moisturize your tattoo only when it begins to feel itchy, roughly 3-4 days into healing.
- For the following weeks:
- Do not soak your tattoo. (No swimming, baths, or saunas)
- No direct sun exposure for the duration of your healing, roughly 2-3weeks.
- If it comes in contact with excess sweat, animal dander or dirt, gently wash the tattoo.
Other Considerations:
- Your tattoo is a wound. Best to treat it as though you are healing one.
- Give your tattoo at least 2 weeks to heal. The new skin will be fresh and may still be sensitive after 2 weeks.
- Make sure your bedding and clothing are clean. Avoid tight clothing during the healing process.
- Do not allow your pets to lick or rub up against your healing tattoo.
Different areas on the body may be more challenging to heal than others, some considerations to keep in mind:
Joints: Be mindful of movement and try to keep it to a minimum. The skin movement can prolong healing.
Torso: Just be mindful of your movements and stretching the skin.
Lower Limbs: Due to circulation and pressure from muscles against the skin, leg tattoos can take longer to heal. Make sure to limit your activities & elevate the legs when possible.
